The solutions and support that we provide will not only save you money in the present, they will offer positive returns on your investment long into the future.

Solar - what you need to know

It's not all about sunshine, what matters most is daylight! Whether it's solar photovaltaic (PV) or solar thermal, daylight is the key. Most of the panels that you see on roof tops in the UK are solar PV - these panels are used to generate electricity. The less familiar site are solar thermal panels whose purpose is to heat water, thus saving electricity. According to the Department of Energy and Climate Change, over half a million UK homes now have solar panels installed.

      • 1. Any roof, other than a north facing one can be utilised for panels.

      • 2. Your property requires to have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), ideally grade D or above.

      • 3. On-roof solar panels rarely need planning permission unless you live in a listed building or in a conservation area.

      • 4. Solar PV panels are virtually maintenance free if properly installed.

      • 5. The output of the system is documented and guaranteed for 20 years.

      • 6. It's best to use the solar PV system at the right time of day to maximise savings by using appliances during daylight hours.

      • 7. The initial outlay is recouped via 3 methods - savings on your electricity costs, quarterly payments of feed it tariff (FIT) and export tariff.  More information is provided about this on the Solar PV page.
