St Ninians High School Careers Day

Working in partnership with Morgan Sindall, some of the WMQ team recently took part in a careers day at St Ninians High School in Kirkintilloch. Events like these are designed to inspire young people to make informed choices as they consider further study and career options. Around 300 young people between the ages of 14 – 17 were given a flavour of life as an electrician or a plumber at WMQ and advised on how to approach an apprenticeship and what to expect. There was quite a variation on where each individual was at, with many having clear ideas of which job and career they aspired to and how they would go about this, but many were still unsure what the future held. They were encouraged to consider the apprenticeship route which has the attraction of merging classroom study, practical hands on learning and the ability to earn a salary from the outset.

These types of event are not one-sided though and are just as beneficial to the contributors as they learn from the experiences of the young people. WMQ Building Services are delighted to have been part of the day.
